Black Ice Finishing Primer
Urethane Supply Company’s Black Ice is a high sheen catalyzed waterborne finishing primer that is formulated
to replicate the OEM appearance of new replacement
bumpers. Used as the finishing primer coat after 3010
Waterborne or 3020 Black Cat build coats, this OEM-like
finish increases the value-added benefit of recycled
bumpers. Black Ice can be crosslinked for unmatched
durability, water and solvent resistance, yet remains easy
to sand.
Benefits
- Makes repaired bumpers look like new OEM bumpers which increases the customers perceived value.
- Low VOC content.
- Can be crosslinked by adding catalyst to make the finish coat resistant to water and solvent, reducing the chance of damage to the bumper during transport to the customer.
- Sands easily, wet or dry.
- Compatible with all topcoat systems.
- Freeze-Thaw Stable: Product passes all quality control tests after a freeze-thaw cycle, although freezing should be avoided if possible.
Application
- Sand surface with 320-400 grit sandpaper to remove gloss. Blow dust free with clean, dry air.
- While constantly stirring, slowly add required amount of catalyst to primer.
- Use HVLP spray gun with 1.3 - 1.5 mm nozzle.
- Apply 1 to 2 medium wet coats of primer. Allow primer to flash between coats.
- Speed cure at 120 deg F. for 30 minutes. Will crosslink in 6 hours at 72 deg F.
- Clean spray gun immediately after use with water, then acetone.
- Sand with 400 to 600 grit sandpaper immediately prior to topcoating. Blow or wipe to remove dust then apply top coat according to the manufacturer’s directions.

Store at room temperature.
Spray Viscosity: 400-500 centipoise
Pot Life:
8 hours once mixed with 3101 or 3103 catalyst. 90 minutes once mixed with 3102 catalyst. Paint will slowly thicken over time. Do not add water to thin once thickening occurs. Discard excess and clean gun immediately with water, then acetone.
